Try the Tennessee Vital Statistics for his death certificate. Many times the parents are listed and their place of birth. If he had a Social Security Number, you can get the SS5 form and it normally has the parents and the mothers maiden name. If you don't have the SS death index go online and the commercial databases have it that you can use. You can print the form requesting information from the index. The cost is 9.00 per search to the Social Security Administration. Hope this helps.
