I have to strongly disagree with those findings. It is SO easy to get mixed up with this family. The Mary Brewer who married Simon Chapman in 1666 is not the Mary Bruer who married John Richards in 1674.
Mary Brewer is the daughter of John and Mary and was born in Ipswich along with her siblings John and Sarah.
Mary Bruer is the daughter of Crispus and Mary, was probably born in Boston, and was married in Lynn, as were her siblings, Elizabeth, Hannah, Sarah, and Thomas.
"NE Marriages Prior to 1700" lists both 'Mary' marriages - neither shows a former marriage. Mary Bruer's marriage record in Lynn, MA is listed under Bruer - it would have been listed under Chapman if she had been previously married.
I hope this helps a little bit to sort out the two branches
