May I offer you a suggestion for making your query re James Brewer more likely to be answered? Always provide some place name, county or state at least. This helps people better identify him among all the other James Brewers. I have a James T. Brewer of AL, most likely Walker County, who married a daughter of James Richmond Townley in the late 1800s. Was your James Brewer's accident connected to the mining profession? My Brewers seemed to be connected to mining in AL. Sorry I can't help you more at this juncture, but good luck!
