We have written a Bretton family history for the family originating from West Bretton in Yorkshire dating back to the year 1,000. We are still seeking other links though. Amongst the Yorkshire Brettons on our tree were :- Richard Bretton was Auditor and Estate Agent to the recusant Mannock family in Suffolk between 1633 and 1638. Luke was Auditor & Estate Agent to the recusant Heneage family in Lincolnshire 1641 to 1655. There was also Olive Bretton daughter of Thomas (Edward?) Bretton from Norfolk married Sir George Heneage (Vice Admiral), and who died in 1632 at St Martins in the field. Was there any connection between Olive Bretton and Luke's later appointment. Was there any relationship between Thomas (Edward) and my branch. (One of my ancestors lived in Bretton, Yorkshire and was buried in Nottinghamshire) Was there any family from either of these two Brettons ? Can anyone trace a second American branch of the Brettons springing from a John (?) Bretton who emigrated to the States in 1828 with his father Joseph and brother Henry ?
