Perhaps just a coincidence of names, but James Brenton (1764-1836), Henry Brenton (d. 1824) and Robert Brenton (d. 1842) were among earliest settlers of what is now Pike Co. IN, arriving there in about 1803 from Kentucky (all three were in Shelby Co. KY in 1795) James Brenton's Rev War pension indicates he served in Virginia troops in 1780, notably being in George Rogers Clarks' expedition. I do not know the relationship of these three men, but James Brenton appears to be the oldest of the three. Perhaps these men are related to the Henry Brenton you are researching.
