I have information on the Brennan family which I believe ties in with your info. BRENNAN, MARTIN (1839-1912), police superintendent, and SARAH OCTAVIA (1867-1928), teacher and nun, were father and daughter. Martin was born in September 1839 at Kilkenny, County Kilkenny, Ireland, son of Martin Brennan, farmer, and his wife Sarah, née Tobin. Martin (Aged 19) and John (aged 11) Brennan migrated to Sydney on the Hornet in 1859. Martin married Elizabeth McKeon. He was a police officer in Yass area and did the gold escorts around Yass / Braidwood. A seach of NSW BDM for deaths of children of Martin Brennan and Sarah Tobin identifes two possible additional brothers of Martin and John. They are William (d. 1897)and Patrick (d. 1899 in Yass). Sarah Octavia Brennan was Gertrude Brennan's cousin (Patrick's daughter). My connection - Did the Martin, John, Patrick (and possibly William) have more siblings? My grandmother, Bridget, (daughter of Alice Brennan) said that her uncles were police in the gold rush era of NSW. My challenge is to find evidence that there is a connection. Alice Brennan (daughter of Martin Brennan and Ellen Tobin) was born about 1850 in Kilkenny Ireland. I believe she is the young sister the above men. Notify Administrator about this message?
