Brennan Family Genealogy Forum

Hello Bee
I came across your post and felt compelled to post a reply. I was in County Roscommon in October of 2001, researching my Roscommon roots. My Roscommon ancestors are the McWilliam family that owned both Lisdaly and Rushfield, both of which are farms near Croghan, Boyle. I am also researching the Brennan surname in Newfoundland Canada, which is part of my Father's maternal lineage. While I was researching the Brennan surname I came across a list of graves in Assylin Cemetery on the outskirts of Boyle in Co. Roscommon. In October of 1989 a Brennan was interred in that cemetery and the headstone was erected by a McWilliams. Brennan is ranked approximately 28th in prevalence among Irish surnames, so I don't know if the Brennan line from which this Brennan came is also descended of your Brennans, but there may be someone related to you whos ancestors remained in Co. Roscommon. If you do an internet search using Assylin Cemetery as your query, you will find a list of graves recorded by Anna Ryan. Ms. Ryan has contributed virtually every cemetery record posted on-line for Co. Roscommon. Hope this helps even a little.
