John P. Brennan was born in Harbor Grace, NFLD. He married Catherine Carton (McCarton) 19 Jan 1856. He served in the Navy during the Civil War; and returned to NFLD to visit his mother in Mar 1879. He then is reported to have shipped for England, taken sick on board the ship, and died a few days after arriving in England. He & Catherine had 4 sons: John Henry b. 6 Jun 1858; William James b. 14 Jan 1860; Thomas Joseph b. 7 Apr. 1862; and George Edward b. 19 Oct 1865. We are uncertain as to whether the sons were born in NYC or in Maine. Thomas Joseph and Margaret Ryan had 7 children, incl 2 sets of twins: Catherine and Thomas (Jul 1895); William and Nellie (Jul 1896); Sophia (Aug 1898); Margaret (Feb 1902) and Mary.
