We are new to this and hope you can help. I am just beginning to research my
husband's family tree. His grandfather was Michael Brennan born around 1870
in Kilkenny and he died in the Durham area around 1947 (that is all we know
unfortunately apart from the fact that Michael's father was called Peter
Brennan). Michael moved over to the Airdrie/Motherwell area of Scotland
when he was young, about 10 - so say 1880 - (presumably with the rest of his
family) where he worked in the mines. We don't even know the names of any
brothers or sisters he may have had or the name of his mother before
marriage to Peter Brennan. He moved down south to Durham area and married
someone called Sarah (unfortunately we don't have her name). We think the
marriage took place in Annfield Plain, Co. Durham or Gateshead around 1901.
He had several children:
Joseph Andrew (born 30th November 1911) my husband's father who is now
deceased.

James (Who died in 1921). The details we have on him are as
follows:
James Bernard Brennan, Sergeant, Service
Number 1058585, 15 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve who died on
Friday 21st July 1944 aged 23. Son of Michael and Sarah A Brennan, of
Chester-le-Street, Co. Durham.
He is buried in JONKERBOS WAR CEMETERY, Grave 24.J.8 - The cemetery is
situated in the South West part of the town of Nijmegen, Holland. His
details are on the Commonwealth

Michael and his wife lived first of all in Askew Road, Gateshead and then
moved to Ouston. They lived finally in Chester le Street, Co. Durham.
