Bremner Family Genealogy Forum

I am back to looking for the parents of John Bremner my great grandfather who was born Quebec (from death record and from some census) Oct. 13, 1837 (1901 Macleod,Alberta census). He was of Scottish origin, Presbyterian, a shoemaker by trade. Married Christina Findlay Aug. 12, 1862 Hull, Quebec - record found in Anglican Church archives, Ottawa. She was said to be over 21 but was only 18 so I believe this was an elopement since she lived Manotick area, south of Ottawa. Her brother Alexander was one of the witnesses. John and Christina were in Carleton Co. Ont. 1881. Have not found them in 1871 but one son Edward John was born in New York about 1866-67. Other children born in Ont: Mary Jane - 1863, Ellen- 1864, Alexander- 1869, Joseph - 1873, Christina Elizabeth 1878, Violetta - 1880, Thomas - 1885, Leona Maude - 1886 and James Harold - 1888. Alexander settled in Arnprior, Ontario (no known descendants), Edward John in Ohio and the rest of family moved west to Alberta about 1891-92. James later went to Winnipeg area. My e-mail has changed since an earlier message re John. This is my brick wall. Joan
