Sorry I can't offer any info on Christian Brehmer but I thought I'd mention that I have my family's documents and notice that half the German Documents spell our name Brehmer and the other half spell it Bremer. It seems that all of our relatives who came over to the US in the late 1800s dropped the "h". Your relatives may have done the same.
