After I sent you my first message, I found a Richard Blackledge on the 1900 Jones County, Ms Census. However, it indicated his date of birth as 1853. This could certainly be him though. It is very possible there was an error either on the census or from the site that I got 1844 from. Another Richard Blackledge appears in the 1920 Jones County, Ms. records but shows him as 23. This could very well have been his son (there were many Blackledge's listed on this same census page.) Let me know if you find your connection.
