Hi,

I'm responding to a message posted in 2007 but this thread will get picked up and others will see it. I am Heinz Brehm, originaly from Germany, but now living in Los Angeles and I am researching my Brehm ancestry. I picked up on the post for John (Johann) Brehm, brewmaster at Brehm's Brewery in Baltimore to see if I could find a connection to my great-grandfather, Georg Leonhard Brehm (1863-1924), who was born in Ickelheim in Middle Franconia and who settled in Aschaffenburg, Upper Franconia, where he operated the Hopfengarten beer hall. I noted in John's immigration record of June 9, 1892, on the "Braunschweig," that he listed his most recent residence as "Aiss." I take that to be the village of Aisch, now a part of Adelsdorf, near Hoechstadt-an-der-Aisch, where, lo-and-behold, the Brehm family pops up on a web search as operators of a local saw mill. My Brehm ancestors of Ickelheim originated about 40km from Aisch, near the origin of this river.

There may or may not be a connection, as Brehm is a common surname in this region, but I'd be delighted if someone could find such a connection.
