I am looking for any info. on my grandfather.He was placed in an orphanage in the bronx at approximately age 7, somewhere around 1898-1890?? His mother became ill and died shortly after. The catholic orhanage burned down so there are no records of his mother or father, I know that a family took him from there to Vermont to work as a farm hand. He later joined the merchant marines and possibly married a woman from Pa. and then left? divorced? and came to Va and remarried, Any help would greatly be appreciated. I have heard from my uncles that his father was from Ontario Canada and was a police officer.
