Breeden & Breeding, Same People?

Help. I'm confused. Are the Breeden people and the Breeding people the same people? If not, are they related? My husband's family is from Bryant Breeding, born about 1700 in England, move to Virginia and started his family which then stretched across the whole U.S. Are the Breeden's part of his line?
Any help at all appreciated.
