I am also descended from Allen Breed and Elizabeth Wheeler throught their son, Allen, Jr. I have Allen, Jr.'s wife as Mary Sargent, but have seen some postings that name her as Mary Osborne. Which is correct?? or was he married twice??
I have the following information on Allen Breed, b. 1601, from "History of Lynn, Essex County, Massachusetts" Page 115:
ALLEN BREED--was a farmer, and lived near the point where Summer street crosses the Turnpike. In 1638 he had 200 acres allotted to him. He was born in 1601. The name of his wife was Elizabeth, and his children were Allen, Timothy, Joseph, and John. His descendants are numerous, and from him the vicinity in which he resided was called Breed's End. [He was one of the Long Island settlers, but returned. And it is asserted that Breed's Hill, in Charlestown, where the battle of Bunker Hill was fought, took its name from him.] In early times the name was spelled Bread, and there was more uniformity in the spelling than there was in that of most names.
