Bob and Diane,

I was at the Louisana Forum site in hopes of finding information on a "Dora" that was married to my great grandfather R.A. Sharp. When I put "Dora" in as a "search" name, I was given a post by Betty Brecheen O'Brien concerning a William Frank and Alice Crayton Brecheen and twin daughters, Cora and Dora. The Parish of Tangipahoa in LA was mentioned. This info led me to the Brecheen Forum to look for more info on Cora and Dora.

Your posts do not mention these name, but have another clue that may be of help, and that is KY.

My Dora shows up in the 1880 Van Zandt Co., TX census as wife to R.A. Sharp (father of my maternal grandfather from a second marriage). They have a son, Richard b. 1879 in TX.. This small family is living in the household of R.A.'s widowed father, R.M. Sharp and a brother of R.A., Joseph Sharp b. 1866 AL. Dora was 16 years old in this census. Her
parents are listed as being from KY in this census, also.

From the information I have gathered, R.A. probably traveled with his father from AL sometime after 1866. No information on their whereabouts for 1870, but they were in TX by 1879.

Oh, yes. Both R.M. and R.A. were "Robert".

If any of this sounds familiar, I would be ever so greatful for some help.

Thank you,
Shirley
