George is my gggggrandfather too! I am descended from his son Wilson to J.R. to Henry I to Henry II, who is my mother's father. J.R. and his brother G.W. came to Hickman Co., KY from Dickson Co. before the Civil War.
Have you been able to find anything about who George's parents are? I know he came into TN about 1804 with Mary Walker's family to settle her father Elijah's Rev. War land grant. Do you have anything documenting George's birth and/or marriage in GA? I suspect it may have acutally been in N. Carolina.
