Winfred Lehenbauer
NEW YORK CITY — Mr. Winfred Lehenbauer of Staten Island, 59, died Friday, Oct. 9, 1998, at the Peninsula Hospital in Brooklyn, after a lengthy illness.
He was born March 28, 1939, in Villa Crespo, Entre Rios, Argentina, the son of Alberto Ernesto Henry and Helena (Priebe) Lehenbauer.
Winfred's father was a Lutheran missionary to Brazil and Argentina from Missouri. Winfred was raised in Argentina until the age of 17 when, having dual citizenship, he came to the United States and enlisted in the United States Air Force. After four years of service as an aircraft electronics repairman, he was honorably discharged in March of 1961.
He was married to Winifred Ellen Messner on Oct. 21, 1962.
He worked for years as a technical representative for Xerox.
He enjoyed classical music, camping and the outdoors, and reading.
Winfred is survived by his ex-wife, Winifred of Worcester; two sons and daughters-in-law, Christopher Paul and Lori L. (Patton) Lehenbauer of Worcester, and Karl Phillip and Nancy Lynn (Atwell) Lehenbauer of Milford; one daughter and son-in-law, Ruth Anne and Chris Laird of Fort Polk, La.; seven granchildren, Scott Christopher, Timothy Paul, Sarah Marie, Liana Michelle, Brittany Nicole, Nathaniel Wesley and Damian Kristofer; two brothers, Ronald of Brazil and Ottomar of Utah; two sisters, Naomi L. Hohn and Flora Kroeger of Argentina; and many nieces, nephews and other family.
Winfred was predeceased by two brothers, Siegfried and Reginald and one sister, Monica.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 30, 1998, in New York City.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the American Heart Association, Hearts Gifts Processing Center, P.O. Box 3049, Syracuse, N.Y. 13220-3049 or to the American Lung Association of Mid New York, 311 Turner St., Suite 415, Utica, N.Y. 13501.
Arrangements have been made by the E.J. Skinner Co., Funeral Chapel, 115 Main St., Worcester.
