Dear Margaret;
Apology for the delay in answering. I've been traveling. Great to hear from someone also interested in the Carruthers family of Liverpool.My interest is primarily in the Carruthers in Brazil and on that, I have some data.I'd be delighted to send you what I have if you could provide me with an e-mail (mine is [email protected] ). For example, in 1825, the partnership in Pernambuco (Brazil) between George Thomas Mitchell and George Agnew Carruthers was closed down (liquidated). A new partnership was created there called Carruthers, Smith and Co. which in tuirn was dissolved in June 1827. So the key Carruthers member is George Agnew Carruthers. In Dec 1825, another partnership comprising George Agnew Carruthers and William Mitchellwhich had been operating in Salvador da Bahia was closed down; it was called Carruthers, Mitchell and Co. of Bahia, operating in Bahia (but since when?).
I would be interested in knowing more about the Carruthers family of Liverpool during 1800-1830.
Sincerely,
