Up to 1867, about 10,ooo southern soldiers embarked at New Orleans, Charleston, Boston, Nova Iorque ports heading to several countries. Out of these, 2.700 went to Brasil (Tabela.1). They arrived in Rio, after a 30 days trip, and sometimes they stayed at Casa do Imigrante (imigrant's house).
