Plague and swedish builders in Rio
Posted by: Carolyn Turner (ID *****3127) Date: March 20, 2003 at 17:54:43

I have found out that my g.grandfather arrived in Rio March 1854. He worked as a bricklayer with other swedish immigrants building houses.

He apparently left (very hurriedly) when a plague swept thru Rio. This was during 1854 when he first sailed to Australia.

Any info available on these Swedish immigrants?

Regards

Carolyn
