On the face of it, the following is not the right person, but...
On 11 Jun 1923 a Michael H Saliba, aged 27, single, merchant, arrived New York on the SOUTHERN CROSS from Rio de Janeiro. It was his first visit to US and he was in transit for Vera Cruz, Mexico.
He lived with his father, Habil Saliba at Rua do Calthes 706, Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais.Michael described himself as French citizen, born in Beirut, Syria (he could read/write Arabic, French & Portuguese). It was noted that he had a hunchback, caused by curvature of the spine.
On 28 Sep 1923 he returned to New York, arriving on the ESPERANZA from Vera Cruz, accompanied by his widowed and illiterate mother Maria J Saliba, aged 59 who was also born in Beirut and living in Coatepec, Mexico. They were in transit for Brazil, and stayed (where else!) at the Hotel Lebanon, Washington St, New York City.
