Record pertains to survey of 100 acres in Rowan Co (Iredell split off from Rowan in 1788). About 1807 or before, Laban Brazier, his wife, her father Shadrach Dial (s/o Robert Dial), and Shadrach's second wife moved from Rowan Co, NC, to Clermont Co, OH, where they are on the County Tax lists for 1810. In 1813, he is on the Tax list of Union twp, Clermont Co, and received $11 for services to Batavia twp in 1822, where he was property holder No 4455 in 1826. He was minister of Batavia Methodist Episcopal Church in 1817, and is listed (with Elijah Brazier) as an early member of Olive Branch, Methodist Episcopal Church, before 1831. Rev. Laban Brazier was apparently a circuit riding Methodist minister. A member of the Brazier family gave to Bethesda Hospital, which had a small museum, several letters of Laban and his father-in-law, Shadrach Dial, concerning land titles, and a set of saddlebags said to have belonged to Rev. Laban Brazier. These items are now in the Ohio State Historical Society Library in Cincinnati. Laban left his family Bible to his second wife, Olive. Someone apparently tried to destroy it, but charred remains of it are now in the Cincinnati Public Library. It has been transcribed in Bible Records of Thirty Ohio Families, Family of Laban Brazier and Deborah Dial: d1. Mary D.
