William Brasell (Brazie, Bresee, Brezie), Pawlet, Vermont
Hi, I'm trying to sort out my early Williams in Vermont. I believe they will turn out to be my direct ancestors, and need all the help I can get.
I have a census record as follows:
Census 1790, William Brasell (Brazie), Pawlet, Rutland, VT, counts 142
This William was in Pawlet in 1790 with a wife and five children, four boys and one girl. According to the census count, he was born before 1775. But, with a wife and five children, I calculate he was probably at least 25 years old, which would make his birth date 1765 or earlier. My best (though unscientific) guess is that he was born in Massachusetts.
I have another census record as follows:
Census 1800, William Brezie (Brazie), Pawlet, Rutland, VT, counts 02101-30001-00
This William was in Pawlet in 1800 with a wife and six children, three boys and three girls. According to the census counts, he was born before 1755. I have found no other Williams in Pawlet for these two census years.
I believe these two census records are for the same William and his family.
I am trying to identify William's parents, spouse and children, their names, birth dates, locations, etc.
Any help would be appreciated.
Bruce
