I'm a decendant of the Randolph County Brazeal's. I have been searching with not much success. It seems my family name changed from Brazzel to the current day name of Brazeal in my family after 1900. It seems James and his brother decided to change the name for whatever reason, nobody knows yet. I'm a decendant of James Aaron Cortez Brazzel(b. 1898GA), and his father was James Jefferson Brazzel(b. June 1862). I found them in the 1900 Census of Monroe County, Cabaniss District. ED 65, on image 10. The children listed are as follows Lee David (Van Buren) Avie Zillie Cortez (James Aaron Cortez Brazzel) Anyways, this is a little ways away from Randolph County, but J.A. Brazeal (he dropped the Cortez too for some reason) married my great grandmother, Lydia Elizabeth Wallace(b.1898 In Cuthbert, Randolph Co, GA) and can be seen married with children in the 1930 Quitman Co, GA census. Quitman County is one over from Randolph. I have information below this part of the tree fairly well filled out. Its what is above this part is what I'm trying to find out. It seems most of you have traced it back to the early 1800's and I'd be greatful if someone would like to trade info with me. I'm not aware of any ties to other states other than the 1900 census which shows James Jefferson Brazzel's mother was from South Carolina. Unfortunately, I don't know her name. Any help would be great. I'm going to a Brazeal family reunion we have every year in October, and I'm hoping to surprise them with some info on the family's history. Thanks in advance!
