My gggg grandmother was
Mary Brayton b.1800 in Montreal,Canada d. 25 Feb. 1902 in Fulda MN. She m. George Devore. Her parents were Gideon Brayton and Ruth Brayton. I have come to the same conclusion as you ,that they were indeed first cousins. Which is strange, but must of been allowed then. I also have Gideon's parents as Thomas Brayton and Mary Freeborn(dau. of Gideon and Mary Boomer) Thomas's parents as Francis Brayton jr. and Mary Fish(dau. of Thomas Fish and Mary Sherman.
