I searching for Bray family from boone or kanawha co. My g.grandmother's last name is not exact on any document that I have found. Her name on several things that I found says Minnie Congo/Congro and possibly Congrove. I do know her mothers name was Julie/Julia Bray. I found a website with a Julia/julie Bray daughter of John Bray/Mary Ann King and Julia married a man by the name of Charles Congrove in 1885. I dont want to claim them as my family until I find out for sure if they are who I am looking for. I was told that my gg.grandma Julie/Julia was full blooded cherokee and married the father of my g.grandma but left when he found out that she was pregnant and he was from France but I dont know if the one I mentioned above are them or not. I was told that my g.grandmother was raised by another family member who were midgets and worked in a circus and is where she had met this man from France. My g.grandmother I heard that my g.grandmother sometimes went by the name Bray because she did not know her father or perhaps she was raised by Bray's. I want to obtain my g.grandmothers birth certificate but I cannot wihtout knowing a last name. Her death certificate says her fathers name was John Congro and her mothers name was Julie Bragg which is incorrect info given by my great Uncle. I was told by numerous family memebers that her family was Bray. Does anyone have any connection or information with these people? Information I have from copied ledger of marriage records show that my g.grandmother was Congo but also misspells my g.grandfathers name too. I feel like im at a dead end.
