Thanks for the information on the Michael Braun s/o Michael. I guess we have two Braun families in the Longswamp area with ties to Richamond I have found record of the Frederick Braun who may be the sponsor in Richmond in court cases. My Michael Braun is the son of Frederick Braun 1739 of Germany and his wife Eva Mertz of Longswamp. A number of her family did leave the Longswamp area and end up in Richmond (Mertz church) toward the latter part of the 1700's-early 1800's, but they did not include Eva and Frederick. Frederick mentions his son, Michael in his will--so obviously a different one. After that I cannot find anything about him. When Eva died, Frederick Braun of Longswamp married his daughter, Catherine's mother-in-law, Anna Louisa Strauch Foust, by then the widow of Adam Faust or Foust--they remained in Longswamp until Frederick's death when a great number of the interrelated families moved to Crawford Co. I am wondering if the Susanna Braun you referred to may have been the wife of Peter Mertz who was born in Longswamp and later removed to Richmond--many have surmised that she was a daughter to Frederick and either Eva or Louisa, but I have not found that to be the case. Michael was left with responsibility for his father's farm in 1802 in Longswamp, but disappears after. Perhaps he died without issue. Sue
