I saw you inquiry on Genforum concerning George A. Braswell. I have found the following:

From H. B. Braswell's book, George Anderson Braswell, born 1835 in SC. Was son of Asa Braswell (b. 1801), married Sarah in SC. Asa migrated to Dekalb County, Georgia during 1844. Other children of Asa and Sarah were Basil Anderson (b. 1833 SC); Priscilla Amanda (b. 1841 SC); James Henry (b. 1845 GA); Nancy Jane (b. 1849 GA).

Asa was son of George Braswell (1773-December 12, 1842) and Nancy Massey. George is said to have had 16 children.

Prior to George the line becomes quite confused. H. B. Braswell says that his parents were Richard Braswell and Obedience Snow and traces the line back to Rev. Robert Braswell (1611-1668) who came to Isle of Wight, Va. in 1648. There are those who claim that this is not the case and have a good argument to show how it cannot be.

I am sure we all decend from Robert but just how is not clear. H. B. Braswell's book seems to have a good line from George on down. I have census records on George in Greenville County, SC in 1810. Asa in Dekalb County, Ga. in 1850 and 60. Harrison (George's brother) in Gwinnett County, Ga. in 1850 and on until his death. Also G. A. Braswell is listed in the 1860 Dekalb census.

My ggg Grandfather was Valentine Braswell (1810 Greenville, SC census) who was most likely the brother of the senior George. It is also quite possible that Harrison married Valentine's daughter Mahaley. I just can' tie it all together as yet. If you have any information that would help me I would appreciate it.
