Research of John Burnett of Reno, NV and Barrie Dean
Rosier. James Braswell and his family lived in Forsyth Co., Georgia. His will which was probated in 1854 requested his body be buried at Union Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. His grave there is unmarked, but thought
to near that of his daughter, Elizabeth Braswell Lee (Her grave is marked.) John H. Braswell was a confederate soldier who served in Company I, 3rd Regiment, 2nd Brigade, GA State Troops. This unit later merged and became Company G, 56th Regiment, GA Volunteer Infantry. His brother in law, Stephen Lee also served in this unit. It is felt he died in service, since he cannot be located in the 1870 census and the last military record shows him in a military hospital in Virginia. It is also
believed that his brother served in 36th GA Infantry, but this is not definitely known. Francis M. Braswell and his sister, Mary E. Braswell married Ruth and George Hampton--who were siblings. It is not known what became of the sister Julia, either she died or married and move away.
