I too hail from the Joseph Leonard Brassfield line. I have information of the three brothers who came to the U.S. The Town Clerk of Liverpool England said records show that a George Brassfield B. Oct. 19, 1698 came to Virginia indentured to Henry Brown Commander for 11 years. George was thought to have been born about 1677. May 16, 1721 George bought 300 acres of land in Essex county, he was a sureyor. He is said to have had two sons: Decendants of George Brassfield JOHN EDWARD BRASSFIELD is said to have come to America in 1717 from Yorkshire England. He settled in Spotsylvania County, Virginia he bought 858 acres in Spotsylvania Co. He and men by the name of Gentin and More or Moore had several stores, the partners ran out on hiim, se sued the partners and gained the suit. He had moved to N. Carolina, 3 days before he died the lawyer wrote him to come claim his property, neither he nor his wife ever went back. The land is on record belonging to John Edward Brassfield also money from the sale of slaves. Leonard Brassfield B. 1736 JOSEPH LEONARD BRASSFIELD said to have been born in England and to have been one fo the Lord Baltimore settlers in the territory of Virginia. They settled on the South side of the Potomac River eventually. Our line hails from Joseph Leonard Brassfield to John Brassfield B. 1808 in Chattanooga, TN. died after 1870 Bur. in Searcy Co., Ark. marr Lucinda, she was b. 1812 or 1817 in Tn. buried in Searcy Co., Ark. Abner Brassfield and Lucinda Gee Brassfield who lived in Newton Co. Ark in 1850 and 1870. He is probably the Abner Brassfiel who took amnesty oath June 4, 1865, Clarksville, Ark. I have all of the children of Sedrick Perry Brassfield and Matilda Gee and some of their grandchildren and gr. grandchildren. Would like to share information. Please write to me at pcata@janics.com.
