Brassfield Family Genealogy Forum

According to "Brasfield/Brassfield Genealogies," some of the family moved to present OK as early as 1882. Many arrived in the mid to late 1890s and beyond. I was told that the GEE's left just one step ahead of "the law" but have not been able to confirm.Census takers, I believe, were told to take every right turn until they arrived back at where they started. If true, some very close neighbors may not be listed together, depending on the census taker's route. If they ARE listed close together, I think we can assume they were living close to each other. On my map, Eufaula is in McIntosh County, but (oops!) Bower Cemetery is in Pittsburg County. My source says that Brassfield Cemetery was located 6 miles due east of Eufaula (now under Lake Eufaula). The graves and markers there were moved to the existing Bower Cemetery. I will post additional BRASSFIELD data under the heading: "Abner BRASSFIELD, Cont."
