Michael, I think we have a connection
It would help if Michael could give us a date of birth for Alexander Denholm Brash his wife's gt. grandfather.

If Alexander D. Brash was her gt.grandfather it would make him a generation later than the Alexander Brash (brother of Francis Banks Brash, our gt.grandfather) that we know about - see 1861 Census below.

CENSUS 1861

At 22 Charlotte Street ,Glasgow. District: Calton Glasgow City/Lanark 644/04/003/04 016

BRASH Alexander aged 42, Head of Household, Married aged 42, Insurance Surveyor, born Edinburgh

BRASH Agnes, aged 31 (?), Surveyor's Wife, born Kirk…. Peebleshire

BRASH Francis B., Son aged 18, unmarried, Clerk in Store, born Partick, Lanarkshire - our gt. grandfather

BRASH William B., Son aged 16, unmarried, Clerk to Driver, born Glasgow, Lanarkshire

BRASH Agnes, Dau. aged 12, scholar, born Glasgow, Lanarkshire

BRASH Georgina, Dau. aged 11, Scholar born Glasgow, Lanarkshire

BRASH Alexander, Son aged 9, Scholar " " " i.e. born 1851/2 - could this be Caryn Ann Ventner's gt. gt. grandfather?

BRASH Elizabeth, Dau. aged 4 born Glasgow, Lanarkshire

HAMILTON Martha, Domestic Servant, Unmarried, aged 26 born Ireland
