James Brash and Catherine Brown had a son James b. abt 1836 somewhere in Scotland. James Jr. married Barbara Hutchison 31 Dec 1861 in High Church, Glasgow, and they emigrated to St. Paul, Minnesota probably by way of Canada, abt. 1879. James was a locomotive engineer. They had 8 known children:
