You mentioned a Herbert Brassfield. I am trying to do a family tree on my husband's family and his father's name was Herbert G Brasfield with one "s". I'm not sure of his father's name.
I also wonder about the story of dropping the "s". I know you didn't but have you ever heard of it before.
Anything you can help me with would be great. What year was your grandfather born?
