Hi, Amy as you can see I am a BranUm from my father's line but my mother was a BranAm. My understanding after years of research is that the Branums and Branams are probably from the Branum main surname and Branam became a deviation of Branum down that line somewhere which means that my parents were probably distant cousins. Hope this helps. My Branam line is from Mattie Branam, my ggrandmother, who married a Pleasant but gave their baby the Branam surname and he became James Branam.
