I'm from the Branum's in Madison Co.
Here's what I know...
My great-grandfather, James Burton Branum, Sr. moved from Gurley, AL to Texas, and then OK.
His father, Henry Wesley Branum also was born and raised in Gurley, Alabama, but I think he also ended up in Oklahoma
Henry's father, James C. Branum lived his whole life in Gurley. He was a farmer, and fought for the South in the Civil War. James C. was also one of the first aldermen of Gurley.
James C's father was Peter Brannom (various spellings I've come across), who was born in Camden, SC, but ended up in Gurley.
Peter's father was Hugh Brannom, who fought I think in the Revolutionary War.
Hugh's father was Michael Branham, who received a land grant in 1720 near Camden, SC. I guess he might be English, but I have no record of him across the Atlantic.
If you would like more detailed info (names, records, etc.) on what I know, please email me. I would also love to know what info you know.
James
