Brantners of Blair County
I've read the posts on the Brantners in Blair County, PA recently and it seems that there may be familial connections.I'm just not sure what they are.Let me list my lineage and maybe you guys can pick up a clue where I've missed one (that ole "can't see the forest for the trees" thing!). My mother is Sandra Kay BRANTNER Crownover (re-married) born May 23, 1940; her father (my grandfather) was Charles Nelson BRANTNER born November 30, 1910, died September 7, 1984.Charles Nelson had siblings: Charles Fredrick BRANTNER b. Oct. 4, 1899; Marie BRANTNER Lane b. ~1901;Ethel BRANTNER Reigh b. Mar. 12, 1907; Catherine BRANTNER b. ~ 1909; James Edgar BRANTNER b. ~1913; and Mrytle BRANTNER Reeder b. ~1915.Their father was Charles McKee BRANTNER b. about 1870, d. about 1923.He married Mary Catherine WINGARD BRANTNER (a Norwegian connection?!). But now things get very fuzzy. It was always said Charles McKee BRANTNER's father was a John H. BRANTNER, but I'm not sure this is so as I'm still looking at the census data and trying to figure out this whole mess! The 1870 Blair County, PA census lists a John BRANTNER w/wife Sara Jane UNKNOWN and four children: Mary b. 1864, John b. 1866, Lucinda b. 1868 and Charles b. 1869 or 1870.If you folks have additional on this, please let me know.If I find anything new I'll post it here or you can write me at: [email protected]!
