A biography/family history of Roswell Branson is included in "Montana, Its Story and Biography", Vol 3, pages 1118 & 1119. Born 8 Aug 1864, Walla Walla, WA. Father: Thomas Branson, born in Illinois, established the family home in Walla Walla in 1858 and became a prosperous rancher. Mother of Roswell: Amanda Church, born County Clare, IR, daughter of Andrew Church. She came with her family to the US at age 12 and the family settled in the Willamette Valley of Oregon. Children: Otis P. (Lewiston, ID), Roswell L. (Nashua, MT), Alfred M. (Kalispell, MT), Fannie (Mrs. Almon Jones) d, Umatilla County, OR), Ella (Mrs. John Gratz) d. in Arizona, Mazina (Mrs. Bird) d. Baker City, OR, Alta (Mrs. Musgrove, Walla Walla Valley), Charles E. (Glacier Park, MT). Mrs. Branson married her second husband, Charles Lewis, and her final home was in Lewiston, ID. Roswell attended schools in Walla Walla valley and Huntsville (WA) College, and a business course in Helena, MT. Came to Montana and worked on several ranches, clerked and tended bar in the Coleman Hotel in Glasgow, MT, ranched for himself at Whatley siding east of Glasgow until 1908 when he became proprietor of the Nashua Hotel, Nashua, MT. On 20 Jul 1897, Glasgow, MT, Roswell married Miss Rosa Stiler, born Dec 1876 in Minnesota. Child: Earl Otis. I am not related. Notify Administrator about this message?
