Here's some information regarding the immigrant, Richard Branscum. It comes from the book Isaac Branscum: His Ancestors & His Children, by Frederick B. Tubbs, 1996. Mr. Tubbs is unable, at this time, to offer any additional assistance, but hopefully, this outline will help someone get started. From page 5: Richard Branscum, the immigrant (may very well be the Richard from Callington, Cornwall, ENG, son of John Branscomb; christened 12 Feb 1722. Two other sons of John were christened: John on 15 July 1720, and Thomas on 21 June 1728.) From the order book for Brunswick County's Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions for March 1750 contains this statement (Book 6, p.46): The immigrant made an oath that about 14 or 15 years since he imported himself directly from the Kingdom of Great Britain into the Province of Maryland and from thence into this Colony [VA] where he served a part of his servitude and that this is the first time of his proving such Importation which is ordered to be certified. Richard reached the new World circa 1735-1736. From page 12: He made his will on 20 March 1775, and it was proven in court on 24 July 1775 [Brunswick County, VA].... From page 16: Married Sarah Proctor, probable daughter of Robert & Mary Proctor. From pages 18-19 Children: 2. Richard, will dated 5 Feb 1815; proved Dec 1829, Greensville County. Wife unnamed, sons William, Enoch, and daus. Polly, Lucy and Anne. Also may have had dau. named Patsy (Martha). 3. John, b. ca. 1760, d. 1821. Wife Olive E. 4. Sarah
I AM NOT actively researching this line. All I have is a very well researched book. If you need a look up, contact me, but please be patient. :-) Thanks. Moe
