There are about 30 spelling variants of the Branscombe surname, but they don't include BROWNSON, BRUNSON, BRONSON and BRANSON. They do include BRANSCOMB, BRANSCOME,BRANSCOM,BRANSCUM,BROWNSCOMBE,BRINSCOMBE, and RANSCOMBE. Medieval spellings of the name include BRONESCOMBE and BRANCHESCOMBE. There is information about the origins of the name and the coat of arms of the Medieval Bishop Walter Bronescombe, on the Branscombe Home Pages
