January 18th, 1861 Massac County, Illinois A true Statement of Malaciah Branum's will, in his perfect Senses and Mind 1st, I wish all of my justs debts paid from my property, and then to my wife after all debts are paid , The one third of my property. Thus Miss MaryAn V. Lewly is to have one share with the rest of my heirs. If John S. Lewly remains with the family and helps to take care of and raise the family, he is to share equally with the personal property. And my three youngest children the names as follows; My daughter Elizabeth Jane Branum, James Campbell Branum, and Patric H. Branum are to share equally with the above named other two above mentioned in this will and as to my son, Lincey? Branum, I will him the sum of one dollar to his part. And as to my real estate I want this property, which is the present home, sold, and pay up for the balance of my property which is adjoining the town of Brooklyn I wish my wife to have full control, and the assistance of, Michell Pell to settle and receive and pay all claims against the property of mine, in full consideration of the tributes of my family. As in good faith I acknowledge this to be my wish and deed and ask the same and authorize George Steel to assign my name in full virture. Malaciah Branum Attest; Joseph Lynn J.H. Field A.J. Lynne?
