Hi all. Is anyone familiar with the John Branham/Branon family listed below??? Would appreciate anything. I believe this John may be the son of Barnabus (Barny) Branham/Brannum who was born in Westmoreland Co., VA; moved to Stokes Co., NC, and on to Cumberland Co., KY. Here are some reasons for believing John was son of Barny...
1. "Early Time In Clinton Co." Volume 2, lists a John born about 1805 as son of Barnabus.
2. John stays in same area near the KY/TN state line as Barnabus and a couple of his children did.
3. John names a daughter "Matilda" per the 1860 Smith Co., TN census (info below). Barnabus had a daugther named Matilda.
4. In 1850 there is a 22 year old "Rutlidge" in the John's household. Barny's daughter, Matilda, married a RUTLEDGE.
In 1880 John BRANON is listed in Robertson Co., TN as follows:
