Please check message #75 in the Brannen Forum. In the last two pages of the Brannen Family History, N.Quinton Brannen mentions all three of the men you are asking about. I have only part of this book. It states that Sampson Brannen, Sr. (born 1800) had a brother named James. If anyone knows anything more about the Harris Brannen who claimed to be about 74 in 1850, I would really like to hear about it. I think he is the "Grandsire" mentioned in Quinton Brannen's book, which would mean that he was the father of Sampson Brannen, Sr. I have located him in the census of 1840, 1850 and 1860, but can't find him in any others.
