Ruby--
All the James Brannan entries in my tree so far were born after 1812. However, the two Brannan Trees I have been documenting originated in Pennsylvania about 1800--coming over from Ireland. As I said before there seems to be a German Connection that I have not been able to establish except for some marriages. They were protestants--mostly Presbyterian--from what I can tell. I am not suprised that you have not gotten much response as I have not found anyone else on Ancestry.com who has been doing much Brannan research. I did meet up with one in Florida whose tree and my tree intersect. He just started working on the Brannan side again. Another one whose family I think stayed in Pennsylvania---but the Brannan connection is very old. There is a lot of information from Williams County, Ohio after about 1850; but not much before and I have not found a really good site for Pennsylvania yet--haven't looked hard. I will keep the Absolom name in mind as I research and James in the War of 1812. The two Brannan Families I research had a lot of children--the original ones had 10 each and some of their children had 9 to 10. A great # made it to adult hood. Thank you for your response and for wanting to find someone who is in that Brannan Family
Bev
