My name is John William Oliver.Iwas bornin Lockport New York USA
in
1930 and grew up there.I have a document that a Henry Brandt of
LockportNY andaJohn(Neverman?) of Wilson signed naturalization
papersformygreat uncle Christopher Gillmeisterin
the Niagara County Clerk's Office, Lockport New York, dated September 29
1888.Christopher born April 13 1853,at the age of 16,arrived at
the
port of New York from Germany the last week of December 1869 on the ship
named Dr. Barth
with his brother, my maternal great grandfather, Johann Gilmeister born
in Germany
December 4 1843 who used the spelling thewith one "l" raising his
family in Niagara County New York although a document"Intention to
Become a Citizen of the United States filed in the Commonwealth of
Pennsylvania, City of Scranton"dated March 27 1871 signed his name
"John Gillmeister."Also on this trip were Maria Wass (?Fuchs)wife of
Johann,
her youngerbrother, her father and his new wife (stepmother to Maria
and
her brother).The young brother was lost at the dock and never found
tho they waited for him for about two weeks.
