Get Right of Way for Rt. 64 to Sycamore
Great Western Grants Last Strip for New Road
All right of way for Route 64 between St. Charles and Sycamore has been obtained, it was announced by State Engineer George N. Lamb. The entire distance of 19 miles has been secured by Kane and DeKalb county committees of the boards of supervisors.
The last concession was granted Monday by the Chicago Great Western railroad.
The suits brought by the state against owners of land in order to obtain right of way in DeKalb county for Route 64 were settled when they came up before a jury and Judge Pond in county court last week, and any possible delay and costs of litigation were avoided.
The jury consisted of Thomas Rich, D.J. Lanan, John Donnelly, Bernard Dugan, A.J. Driscoll, C.H. Brandt, E.W. Brueng, F.S. Ault, John W. Grubbe, H.Y. Bullis, Walter Hammet and Dell Slaymaker.
They brought in a verdict after the dinner hour in accordance with the instructions of the court and the agreed stipulations.
The total value of the land and the total amount of damages agreed on was $23,675.06, of which the county gave a check for $16,919.42, and the citizens of Sycamore, through the Sycamore Chamber of Commerce donated $6,755.64.
