Just started researching the Brandstetter, and various spellings, as I have discovered my GG-grandfather, James Smith, born in TN, marred Catherine H. BRANSTUTTER 2/21/1838 in Tishomingo Co., Mississippi. Her known sibs were Caroline that marred Lornaza Dow Rhinehart, and Fredirick that married Marcy Burton in 1837. All three BRANSTUTTERS list their parents as JOHN and Nancy BRANSTUTTER.
Wondering if other researchers on this line have info on how the BRANSTUTTERS/BRANSTETTERS landed up down South in Mississippi. My Smiths that married into this line are from Hardin Co, Tenn
(1830's and still there) and on back to Ricard Smith, born 1794 in Kentucky.
I have never been able to trace any of my family lines outside the USA, and would love to be connected to some Idenity! And this BRANSTUTTER line seem to be my best hope.
