I don't know how I missed Franklin, then I read Frank as Mark!

You obviously have the correct family.

1840:
In Greenville town, Darke Co, OH there is an Abram? Studebaker with a girl in the correct column to be your Mary. (Earharts in the township, too, and a William Lightcap with a gal the right age.)

1850:
Some Brandons are in Wayne Twp. I don't see Zachariah. Those Studebakers are in Neave Twp and the older girl is out of the household.

Do you think the older Mary Studebaker who was a widow of the Earhart guy was the spanner in the works, and this maiden Mary (E?) Studebaker married widow Zachariah Brandon after Mary E. Lightcap died? Or there are two Studebaker-Earhart marriages in two different generations and your Mary's was short? But you keep calling her Studebaker - do you yourself dismiss any Earhart marriage (quoted by the original poster)? That would clear the problem, for sure.

The ID of Zach's wife as a Lightcap could also be wrong to begin with.

I'm happy to be enlightened on this and hope you'll send me your research when you're satisfied so I can let your cousins in the DNA Project in on your hard work.

Looks like I'm the one gonna be throwing out somebody's Aunt SoandSo's conclusions! (Sorry, Wally....)

Thanks,
Sally
